7th Grade Curriculum
SONLIGHT CORE 4
American History 2
Bible, History, Geography, Reading, Read-Alouds
We are venturing deeper into American History into the Civil War, World Wars through Modern Day with side trips to South America and Canada.
Some of the ones we are looking forward to are :
CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN
A perennial favorite: the true escapades of a now-famous family that had 12 children.
(NOTE:There is a Warning for taking the Lord's name in vain and other curse words.
Glad it is a Read-Aloud.)
THE WORLD WARS
(This was the one book that got his attention when we had box opening day)
The 20th century is forever darkened by two malevolent shadows: the world wars of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945. Take a deep breath and explore both conflicts in one sobering, compelling book—from the soldiers' terrifying experiences in trench warfare to mighty and sinister innovations that shaped the course of history. Dramatic photographs and detailed maps help make this an accessible, thought-provoking view of the most destructive wars our world has ever known.
SIMON BOLIVAR
Simόn Bolivar took on one of the strongest armies in the world. And he won.
FREEDOM TRAIN
The Story of Harriet Tubman
Fascinating biography of Harriet Tubman, a black woman who risked her life
helping other slaves reach freedom on the Underground Railroad.
OLD YELLER
The touching Newbery Honor story about a boy and the dog he loves.
Set during frontier days in the Texas hill country.
