Unique [to us] Disney Photos

I am linking up today, joining our TOS Homeschool Crew fearless leader, Heidi, over at Reviews and Reflections in her fun meme Destination Disney . Today, she asked us to share our most unique Disney Photos.  So here is our 'Unique' take on Disney.

2009 Disney World
The reason this one is a 'unique' is if you know my boys, you would know that this picture is nothing short of a miracle.

This was our view every morning at breakfast.  Simply stunning!

Finally, a family picture with Mickey Mouse after all these years!
"Look Ma, No hands!"

The End..for now.

I think it's time to plan a trip to Disney!!!

How to Make a Marriage Bed

I just had to share this post from a holy experience
I was simply overwhelmed at the truths she bared.

How to Make a Marriage Bed is a must read for every wife.

How precious it is for a woman to remember that she is her husbands greatest reward and that he does truly believe in her beauty.  I am that blessed, and beyond, and I am learning to Believe it when my husband tells me I am beautiful.  In spite of the 'war wounds' the childbearing years have left behind, the weariness of mothering and teaching, he still sees me as the teen-age girl he fell in love with.

Truly there is healing in the Marriage Bed.

“His mouth is full of sweetness. And he is wholly desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend.” ~Song of Solomon 5:16

Simply BEGIN!

sim·ply [ símplee ]

nothing other than: with nothing else involved
plainly: in an uncomplicated, straightforward, or plain way
absolutely: absolutely or utterly

Inspired to bless mother's who daily labor to admonish their children in honor, integrity, patience, self-control, kindness and compassion.  For homeschool mom's overwhelmed by 'the day'...For mother's and wives facing 'mountains'...conquer your 'mountains' one step at time, with a thankful heart.  This poem is for you.

by Edgar A. Guest

Somebody said it couldn't be done.
But he with a chuckle replied,
That maybe it couldn't, but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so'till he'd tried.

So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin
On his face.  If he worried, he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the 'thing'
That couldn't be done.  And he did it.

Somebody scoffed, "Oh, you'll never do that
At least no one ever has done it."
But he took off his coat, and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we know, he'd begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin
Without any doubting or "quit-it".
He started to sing as he tackled the 'thing'
That couldn't be done.  And he did it.

There are thousand to tell you it cannot be done.
There are thousands to prophesy failure. [including you]
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in, with a bit of a grin;
Just take off your coat and go to it.

Just start in to sing as you tackle the 'thing'
That cannot be done -- and you'll do it!

You Can Do It!

con·science [ kónshənss ]

sense of right and wrong
"A [young] man who has nothing to do with his own time
has no conscience in his intrusion on that of others."

Sense and Sensibility
Jane Austen
Marianne, Chapter 31

I found this one particularly important for teenage young men.  The following says it all.   Don't settle ... Do Hard Things

"Without a doubt, pushing yourself to do more than is asked, expected or required is nearly always  a lonely choice."

Do Hard Things
Alex & Brett Harris

"I wish to preach, not the doctrine of ignoble ease, but the doctrine of the strenuous life, the life of effort, of labor and [trouble]; to preach that highest form of success which comes, not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not shrink from danger, from hardship, or from bitter toil, and who out of these, wins the splendid ultimate triumph."

The Life of Christ

Today I present to you, from

"To many people Christ is merely a historical fact, rather than a living, personal reality. We know that Christ lived, and we know much about what He did; however, even we as Christians seldom experience His presence as we should.

The purpose of The Life of Christ from the Gospel of John is to make Jesus Christ real to your students. Our hope as you journey through this material is that your students will not only know Jesus more, but also love Him more." -Positive Action for Christ

Simply put, this is a beautifully presented, thorough study on the Life of Christ through the eyes of John.  I was immediately 'drawn-in' by the aesthetic presentation of this Bible study.

The weathered 'leather-look' exterior and 'linen-like' pages within, gives this book immediate appeal.

The photos are brilliant with color and...

the drawings are beautifully illustrated.

Once you have taken time to browse the text, then it's time to dig into the meat of the study.  For years we have used Sonlight's Bible curriculum.  For the most part we have enjoyed their selections.  But, something was missing from what we wanted for our children, especially, Eagle 1 now that he is becoming a teenager.  We desired something more in-depth, that would cause him to really think, 'wonder' at what he was reading, no just read it.

won·der [ wúndər ]

amazed admiration: amazed admiration or awe, especially at something very beautiful or new

something marvelous: a miracle or other cause of intense admiration or awe

extraordinarily good: exciting admiration or amazement by virtue of being outstandingly good, effective, or unusual

The answer to our hearts prayer was "THE LIFE OF CHRIST: FROM THE GOSPEL OF JOHN" from Positive Action for Christ (positiveaction.org).  Eagle 1 does not just read the scripture and move on.  He is provoked by the study to challenge his own thinking of, "What do I really know about Christ?"  He is mentally and visually taken back in time to where Jesus tread.  He is given a broader view of what Christ and/or the people may have been thinking, doing or how and where they were living.

To add to the beauty of this study, I was given a Teacher's Manual full of even more information to challenge my son's thoughts even further.  They give you options of when to study (i.e. 3 Day, 4 Day, and 5 Day option) during the school week.  I chose to break down each lesson based on the sections presented in each chapter, ending with "Notes from the Teacher's Lesson" and finally the Unit Test on the last day of the week.  Some weeks are 5 days long, most are 4 days.

The Teacher's Manual consists of extra reading suggestions, Lesson objectives, and the Teacher's Notes Lessons to do with your student.  They have included miniaturized versions of the student's text with the answers filled in each question.  The disk provided allows you to print off overhead projector print-outs.  I used these in the beginning to visually draw Eagle 1's attention to the main points of the lesson.

I can not recommend Positive Action for Christ's "THE LIFE OF CHRIST" enough.  They have done a beautiful job of building a curriculum for Middle School and High School students.  If you are wanting to open doors and challenge your student's faith even further, this is the study for your family.  For a group or single child, the study brings Christ to Life.

Virtual Nerd

...and today I am sharing an online tutoring site that uses instructional videos to tutor you 7th through 12th grade student in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, and Intro to Physics.

With 1000 plus videos to train your student in detailed, step-by-step simplified lessons from tutors that are pleasant and easy to understand.

Who We Are...

"Virtual Nerd offers online tutoring in math and science to students grades 7-12. Our service is both affordable and convenient, providing help whenever and as much as needed. Using our patent pending Dynamic Whiteboard, each student has a very interactive and personalized learning experience. While watching our pre-recorded videos, they can drill-down for more information and access FAQs, terms and definition to assist in their learning process. Service is available on a subscription plan basis, a 1-month subscription is $49 - multi-month plans are also available."

The instructors/tutors approach the subjects with real world examples keeping the lessons interesting, short and to the point.  These videos are here whenever my son needs them.  The tutors utilize their "Dynamic Whiteboard' to clearly display examples of every kind from "What's an equality?" to "How do you solve a word problem using an inequality with variables on both sides?" and "What is an exponential function?" for Algebra.  This is good help for my struggling mathematician who wants to fight the progression of difficulty in math.  The tutors have helped us both better understand the definitions and facts and how to really SEE the problems.

Full Screen 3 Areas

Physics:  For review purposes we utilized these tutors more because of my son's greater interest in this area.  The Physics motivating instructions on vectors, forces, equilibrium and more are all opened up to your student with ease.  I even enjoyed learning more about the reality of physics and how it applies to my real life.  The ability to just go to any instruction and not have to go in succession made the learning even more desirable.  Physics is really very interesting!

"We continue efforts to expand our course content and add features that improve the overall user experience. In 2010, Parent Tested Parent Approved issued an award to Virtual Nerd based on our product quality, functionality, value and appeal. And we just introduced textbook search capabilities - which we will continue to expand."

You can sign-up for a 2-hour free trial to 'test the waters' and see if this instruction is a right fit for you and your student.  You can also try Virtual Nerd for one day, one time only trial for $5.00 or for a week, one time only for $19.00. They also have subscription plans based on Monthly, and 3 Months, pricing up to $129.  The pricing truly is reasonable considering you never have to leave your home and local tutors can range from $75 to $150 plus a month depending on your area.  It really is a great program to look into.

Sunday's Sensibility

Have Faith in God Constantly!

Praying your week has been full of God's mercy. I am in Mark 11 today. God has been dealing with me on Faith vs. Fear. It's an ongoing theme in my journey and I am truly thankful.

Mark 11:22-25 from the Amplified says:

22And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly].

23Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.

24For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it].

25And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.

Through many events of life I have been challenged in my faith, even turned my faith into fear. I trusted in that fear more than my God. I have been in the desert and still I haven't learned that through it all He brought me through. It did not always turn out the way I wanted it to. The perfectionist in me wanted it the way I thought was the right way. But God says "I have a better way".  When I come out on the other side I finally see where He was, in all we endured and He carried us through.  I am thankful.
He says, " Trust in Me. I ALWAYS keep my promises. Nothing, NOTHING can take the place of My Word." Amen!

For Proverbs 30:5 says "Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to Him for protection." NLT

Hebrews 4:12
"For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power
[making it active, operative, energizing, and effective];
it is sharper than any two-edged sword,
penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal]
spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature],
exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts
and purposes of the heart."

If we speak the blessing, speak the Word of God, into every situation in our lives it has the power to change what the enemy meant for our destruction. Like the woman with issue of blood we can be healed and overcome because of our faith.

Have Faith in God, CONSTANTLY!

I love you sweet friends! Have an awesome day!

Miracles In My Midst

"I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
marvelous are Your works; and that my soul knows right well."
- Psalm 139:14

There are Miracles in my midst.

They were set apart before the foundations of the world.

They are distinguished, special, wonderful Creations of the Lord.

They are...

My husband and my children.

Very special, unique people that have never lived before nor will ever live again!

They are created to accomplish a destiny that no one else can achieve.

They are amazing!

Our husbands and children all are created in the mold GOD planned for them.

They are irreplaceable, matchless.

Each one has different gifts and callings and different personalities from me or you!

God created them differently and I am growing in the understanding that My Lord is all about me allowing them to be the unique miracles He intended them to be.

We can not change who are children are ordained to be.

We can not make our husbands the way we want them to be.

They are too special.

Our husbands and our children are God-Planned miracles.

They are who God created them to be...God's creation and not ours.

But there is something you may be forgetting.

Do you know what that might be?

You ARE a Miracle of God.
You are unique.
You are created to fulfill a destiny for the Lord that NO ONE ELSE can accomplish!

Never let the enemy of your soul ever cause you to doubt how special you and your family really are to the Plans and Purposes of God.

"If we are marvelously wrought upon even before we are born,
what shall we say of the Lord's dealings with us after we leave His secret workshop and
He directs our pathways through the pilgrimage of life?"
-Charles Spurgeon

"Know that the Lord, He Is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves."
-Psalm 100:3

Louie Giglio "Laminin"  - see just how much of a miracle we really are!

New Year, New Beginnings

to all of my MOSS friends

I pray that your Christmas and New Year's celebrations were filled with an abundance of the Presence of the Lord, precious time with your family and friends, and old and new traditions.  Ours was, in the end, a blessing and just what The Lord wanted for us.  Our focus was on those important to us and we succeeded in getting in good quality time fellowshipping with our family and friends in His timing.

Our Christmas season was mostly quiet, resting at home.  My sweet Princess came down with croup and a terrible fever virus the day before her  5th birthday.  Therefore, she spent her birthday and the next day with high fever, mostly sleeping.  All of our big plans were postponed.

Thankfully, we can celebrate her Princess tea another day.

She received a beautiful new pink Princess bike.  She was so pleased.

She mustered up as much energy as she had to take a few turns in the driveway.  She has riden it more in the house that out.

Back on the mend and big brother fighting the same virus, Christmas Day arrived and the giving began.  This is our traditional picture we take every year of the children patiently anxiously waiting at the top of the stairs on the way to see their surprises.

One of our 'gifts' on Christmas day was a White Christmas.  We woke to beautiful snowflakes falling for the first time in our towns recorded history.  The children were beside themselves!

Even our sweet little birds enjoyed some fun in the snow!

So, now, it's January 2011 and time to turn our backs on the things of the past and look forward, with hope, to the things of the future.  I have to admit, once the end of the year came I was not filled with the utmost hope in the future to come.  In my natural mind I was dwelling on what had been lost, the dreams/visions I had for myself and my family that did not succeed or the heartbreaks we endured during the years past.  I was questioning God as to why hope in Him when it seems there is so much death and destruction all around.  Even in the midst of my hopeless fealing He was tugging at my heart, reminding me to trust Him.

You may be feeling that same overwhelmed feeling.  BE STILL and KNOW!  Don't let doubt rule in your heart.  Trust Him.

My confession, when I feel the hopelessness try to creep in, is I BELONG TO HIM!  That feeling fades and strength rebounds.  I will be blogging more about this later.  Stay tuned.  In the mean time make this confession boldly...

In Christ Alone will I Glory,
